maybe one day
millennia from now
when the cockroaches
and rats have emerged
and evolved from the
wasteland we made
their unrecognizable descendants
will unearth our bones from stone
and they will marvel at us
how tall we were
how we walked
how we ran
how we hunted
and ate
and lived in packs
that we cared for the weak
in shelters we constructed
and shared with other,
smaller creatures
what little can be gleaned
from size, proximity,
the breaks healed over, remnants
of the little that time will not take
and repurpose into the future.
